Thanks to a grant from Sam's Club of Port Huron, Mi., the restoration is nearing completion. It has been stripped and repainted. Steel fittings have been sandblasted and painted. Some of the metal fittings were found to be brass beneath the paint. Some of the wood trim had to be replaced as the originals were either too far deteriorated or completely missing. The new beveled glass has also been installed. Remaining yet is the replacement of the cloth headliner and the upholstery. This hearse was used by the Falk Funeral Home in Port Huron, Mi. It was built at the turn of the 20th century. Even during the Museum's ownership, it has been requested and used for funerals up until a few years ago when the signs of its age became too prominent. The plan is to again make it available for use. It will also be a key item of display at the Museum due to its local historical significance.
